Wills and estate planning

If you own a home or a bank account in Ecuador, a will written for another country may not be enough. Heirs abroad can end up dealing with Ecuadorian courts, notaries and registries in a language they don't speak.

What we do

  • Wills that cover what you own in Ecuador and sit alongside your plans at home
  • Inheritance: settling the estate of someone who owned property here, for heirs in Ecuador or abroad
  • Powers of attorney, general or for a single transaction, so someone can act for you if you're away or unable to
  • Usufruct: letting a partner keep living in a home for life while ownership passes to your heirs

End-of-life planning

Many people retire to Ecuador, and owning things in more than one country makes life harder for the people you leave behind. We help you write down your wishes, including what should happen to your body, your digital accounts and your belongings, so your family isn't left guessing at a hard time.

Fees

Estate work is billed at $70 an hour for attorney time, or as a flat fee agreed in advance for a defined piece of work, such as a will.
